Allergy and Nose Bleed – How Are They Related?

Your nose may bleed commonly if you or your baby has chronic allergies. Although nosebleeds can be hard to manage and are often a nuisance, they rarely threaten life.  Allergy sufferers are highly prone to nosebleeds.

Why? If you understand how allergens influence the inside of your nose, it helps to answer this question. An allergen is any substance that causes an allergic reaction, such as pollen or ragweed. But without having right allergy testing, you may not get expected results.

Allergy Causes Nosebleed

There are many small blood vessels in the nose, which can readily damage these vessels, leading to nosebleeds. Even something as easy as the air that moves through the nose can add to the issue by damaging the nasal membranes, which can harm the small blood vessels. Allergens are drying out your nose, resulting in irritation and nosebleeds.

Nosebleeds are common in winter when common colds and viruses are more prevalent. In the nasal septum (the piece of tissue that divides your neck into two nasal passages) or further back into the nasal cavity, nosebleeds may happen. Infections resulting from allergies improve a nosebleed's probability.

Other causes of nosebleed are acute or chronic sinusitis, a deviated septum, nose trauma, chemical irritant or nasal spray overdose or common cold.

Nosebleed Diagnosis

If you are looking for medical care for a nosebleed, your doctor will perform a physical exam to determine a cause. They will check the indications of a foreign object in your nose. They will also ask questions about your history of medicine and present medicines.

Discuss any other symptoms you have and any latest accidents with your doctor. There is no single test to determine a nosebleed's cause. Your doctor may, however, use diagnostic tests to locate the cause.
